89/365 - A WALK to...

89/365 - A walk to...

...It could be of so many reasons. But for today's walk, I'd dubbed it as a walk for the hotdogs.

During our lunch break on a beautiful day, me and my co-workers do a brisk walk for about 30 minutes. Our usual route is from our office building down the to Capitol Building and back. It's about a mile or so.

Yesterday, I have mentioned that I brought my camera to work but I am hesitant to take it out because of the possibly awkward look that I might get. But after yesterday's semi-mini shoot with my co-worker, the confidence kicked in. So, during our walk, I decided to take it with me. I wrapped it around my hand in a discrete manner so it won't grab attention. Regardless, one of our walking buddy saw it and asked me why I have my camera with me. I explained to them the reason - the 365 challenge. It did not bother them at all.

So while walking, I was also busy scrambling for possible subjects. As much as possbile, I wanted the subject to be easy - somewhat shoot-and-go kind of thing. Why? Because I still want to keep up with the walking. And knowing them, they really have big strides.

The Sacramento Capitol Building is really a good place to be at when somebody wants to take photos. There's just so many things going on there. While almost around the building, I thought of taking picture of their strides while walking. This kind of shot has always been in my list. I actually have tried this before but it did not work. Again, while walking, I was trying to picture out how I am going to attack the shot. So, I set back from the walk by a few strides, bend (with the possibility that I was showing some plumber's crack...LOL), and positioned the camera on the ground. One click! Luckily, my settings were right on. I was confident of the shot, thus the image above.

Once we stopped by the hotdog stall for our lunch, one walking buddy had asked me if I was able to take the snap that I wanted. Hearing such question made me feel so good.

One last thing, since today is Wednesday, it's WATCHFUL WEDNESDAY from Flower Photography, I linked this post to her blog. Check it out for some more interesting interpretation of a watchful wednesday.

Noreen, I'm proud of you for taking your camera with you. I figured that if I was going to take a picture every day, then I would have to take my camera with me everywhere I go, and that's exactly what I do. Of course, it's much easier for me, since mine is a point-and-shoot. Still, I'm bending over bushes, and taking pictures of strange things all of the time. lol Hey, we are photographers, I figure that people will think we are strange. lol But you know what, I love it! Nice shot!!!
