88/365

88/365

For the first time in history of my 365 photo challenge entry, I could not come up with a title. So, if you happen to stumble upon this page, feel free to give a title for the image above.

This was a shot that I took during my break at work. Infront of our building, there's a plant box that has some gorgeous flowers. I took the opportunity to head down with my camera when my co-worker asked me to come with her to do some errands. I have actually been eyeing to capture these flowers for so long. I just don't have the courage to do so because I feel intimidated and embarassed while lugging with me my camera. Our building has 18 floors and I don't want the people on that side to see me while scrambling for some angle of the shots.

Speaking of the flower, you might be wondering what's going on with the composition or the framing of the flowers. Well, when I took this shot, I was not able to compose. I just took the snap as fast as I can so I get out of that place before co-workers would see me. As I looked into the lcd, I saw the orange flower in the foreground. My main aim was for the white daisies but I thought that the orange flower is an additional splash of color. Some who'd see this may consider it as an eyesore because it takes away the main focus because of its difference in color. To me, it's just another way of breaking some rules. I liked it that way.

Today, I also happen to shoot my co-worker for some portraits. When I checked the shots from my lcd, they looked good except for one blown-out shot. I managed to fix it but I am having a hard time dealing with it. I am pressured because of the thought that she might not like the result. Any suggestions on how to edit portraits would be so appreciated. As soon as I am done with them, I'll post it so I can hear feedbacks from you.

Love it! I'm not very creative with titles so usually I just call it what it is.. like daisies.. maybe you could call it "being different" or "sticking out"..
LOL about your feelings being seen by your coworkers.. I feel exactly the same way:)

I initially felt awkward about taking my camera everywhere, but I'm kind of over that. Most of my co-workers know that I'm doing a 365 photo journey. Of course, if I try to take another picture of them, well then they say, there goes Cheryl will her camera. Some of the students that don't know probably think that I am a wierd duck, especially since I just have a small point-and-shoot, so I don't even look professional. lol In time, you will get over your fear of letting others see you with your camera. Just hold your head up high and think of yourself as a professional, and more than likely, others will too!

As for the picture, I like that splash of orange. Like you, I think breaking the rules from time to time is what makes a photo stand out. Nice job, Noreen!

Download these two photoshop actions. B&W and touch of sun warming action.

http://ginniejphotography.com/photographers/Free-Photoshop-Actions/index.html

also use MCP's sharpening action for the eyes
http://www.mcpactions.com/actions/keyword/free-actions/high-def-sharpening.html

both of them are free and awesome. Also, bring down the clarity of the photo if you shoot in RAW. It helps smooth skin.

Beautiful. I always love a different perspective and the bright flower in front makes it pop.

Beautiful. I always love a different perspective and the bright flower in front makes it pop. I'm like Cheryl, I carry my camera around wherever I go. I used to feel awkward, but not it's like an extra appendage. In fact, I feel naked without it now. Just tell your co-workers what you're doing, that you need a picture, and you'll find they're very helpful. Can't tell you how many captures I've gotten because someone says, "Call Laura" :)

@cheryl: the people in the office knows that I am a photo buff but they kind of did not know yet my capacity so with that thinking they have, it made me even more intimidated. But after I showed some sample photos to them, it kind of changed. And I am glad to know that there are also other photo hobbyist that I work with. We often exchange emails about photo stuff. Thank you!
