61/365 - Dollar Coin

61/365 - Dollar Coin

I've seen a penny, a nickel, a dime and a quarter! A dollar? Not really! Not until a couple of days ago. I could not exactly pin point where we got it from but while we were in the car, we thought the couple of coins we had were quarters. But it could not be because they were larger than the quarters, they have a different color than the quarters and most especially, it doesn't say 25 cents on it. It says $1.

Hubby was in the process of putting the two coins into Madison's piggy bank when I decided to get it from him. I've never seen a coin equivalent of a dollar. It's been sitting in the counter for me to take a picture. I wanted to have a souvenir. I don't know when is the next time I'll see such coins. I am sure there's a lot of them being circulated but I am not just so sure because I've never seen like one..EVER!!!

For today's shot, I let the coins stand on the counter. I was aiming for a dramatic light on them and of course the reflection. I tried the overhead flourescent light, my flashlight, and the kitchen lights. I tried different settings with my camera but as always, nothing appeals to me.

Then, I just decided to let it be. Set the camera to a particular setting and click. I got what I was hoping for. The most important is, I believe I got a great focus. The speck from the counter created a beautiful bokeh and of course, the counter created a beautiful and clear reflection of the front and back of the coins.

In the PP part, I tried black and white. I tried retro but neither was delightful. I then decided to just let it be. No stressing over, no pressure whatsoever! I did a little crop and that's about it!!! And I am so pleased with the result!

This is beautiful! We have $1 and $2 coins in Canada. They are exciting when you first seem them but they quickly become a pain and become heavy in your pocket or purse!

Anyway, great shot! Love the reflection.
