69/365 - Taffy
Right after we grabbed dinner from Chevy's, hubby and me decided take a walk along the cobblestones of Old Downtown Sacramento. Before we head down to the historic spot, we stopped by the house to grab my gear.
While we were there, I was hoping to get some freeway shots. YOu know, slow shutter speed and light trails? I found a perfect spot for that kind of shot with the downtown buildings as the back draft. I tried to execute it. Unfortunately, the backdraft that I was hoping for was not transformed into reality. It was because I did not have my wide angle with me. Well, technically, I brought it but I did not change lens. Ooops, my bad!!!
Since I was not happy with my freeway shot, we headed to the other parts of the town. I took some snaps. After the walk, I was able to take 40+ shots. About half of them passed my taste, but I still need to take a look at them closely.
As I am going through, there's one photo that I like the most but my mind is not working in terms of enhancing it. I think it's already good as it is. I just need to adjust the exposure and brightness. Unfortunately, my mind is not in it's right state right now. Right before I worked on my photos, I switched to the news channel and saw the horrid happening in Japan. Watching the live feed of how the tsunami creeped through the town and slowly taking whatever is along its way is very disheartening. It's crazy to watch but I want to know the details. I want to know what exactly had happened. I may not be from Japan but I am still quite affected. I know of some people who are dear to me who are based in Japan. For instance, my GodFather who is my father's bestfriend is living there along with his family. My friend who just came to visit me a couple of weeks ago are now back in Japan. I just hope they are ok and that they are far from the calamity.
In the meantime, the Japanese people are in my prayers!

My nephew and his wife are currently stationed in Japan and I am praying for them as well. I think that they are far enough away from the area of the tsunami that they should be okay, but one never knows with the size of that earthquake.
Your photo is nice though, Noreen! I like the way you use a shallow dof. I wish my camera handled dof better, but a camera that will do that is definately on my wish list. :-)
I hope your nephew and wife is safe and they were not hurt from the earthquake. Right now, I am little worried because the island where my parents and siblings are, is placed on a red warning for tsunami alert. If the waves reached Hawaii and the West Coast, how much more with the PHilippines since Japan is just right there sitting on top of our country. I tried to contact them but all their lines are busy. I am positive though that they are ok but I still want to hear from them. I got to talk to them last night but that was before the news broke out.
Thank you about the photo. ONe day, you'll be able to get this kind of shot. The camera that I had is what I consider the best gift that hubby gave me. :)...Soon you'll be able to get one because there's just so many out there already.
Your descriptions of Sacramento make me want to get there and see it! I hope that all is well with your family! It's always difficult to live so far away, but especially when you fear for them.
I really like this photo, it's wonderful for being SOOC. The colors are loving and I'm sure when you decide to process it you'll turn it into something amazing.
I think yesterday definitely effected the whole world, it was such a tragic event and so heartbreaking.
@Melissa: I tried to pp it but i guess i was not really in the mood..:)
It sure does affect everyone in many ways..I hope everything will be back to normal in Japan especially in the affected areas. I know it's wishful thinking but I am being optimistic. They'll be in my prayers!
@Bek: I totally missed your comment. Finally, after a couple of days, I got hold of my parents. Thankfully, they are all okay. They were also worried about me and family after they heard of California being affected by the tsunami..They were glad to know that we are really far from the coast.
Sacramento is not as busy as New York or San Francisco but it sure is a city to be seen. I think this place has its own kind of beauty.
