80/365 - Puffs
80th day? Already? Heck yes!!! I am getting near to my 100th mark. That would be so exciting. But I guess that's the only exciting part. Why? Because right now, I am losing all those inspiration. Actually, I almost want to pass this day. I mean, I almost don't want to touch my camera nor touch the computer. I am not feeling the 365 challenge today.
However, I can't just quit. I have already put so much effort and I am already learning a lot just to quit. Well, technically, I am not quitting, I just want to rest for a day. But then, I realized that if I'll do so, I'll have more task to do tomorrow. So, here I am with my post!
Since I was running low on ideas and inspiration, I tried my best to look for something in the house - anything that can be a subject - whether it's plain and simple. As I was scrambling, I saw the puffs of my daughter. These puffs are her snacks during the day. It's actually for babies who are learning to eat solid food but even if we'll stop giving this to her, she'll be looking for this because it's her favorite. While it was getting stale (it has been on her cup and sitting for a whole day) and before I dump it into the trash, I took the opportunity to grab it and made it my day's subject. And voila!!!
While taking this shot, I kept in my mind that I NEED to take only 10 photos or less. And I was able to stick to my plan. I actually made 5 attempts before I got this shot. Why is that so? Because I don't want to depend so much on the idea that with digital photography, I can just take as many snaps as I want and delete those that I don't want. I am trying to learn how to take the RIGHT PHOTO at the first try. It may be impossible considering that I am using manual mode but using this strategy will eventually help me master the settings. Besides, it'll be a good way to minimize the space on my external hard drive since I don't delete my RAW files. I am already halfway through with my 500GB hard drive.

I think this should also be my goal - at least for the everyday stuff. When taking a trip I am extremely shutter happy!:)
It's difficult to limit ourselves, because we just got so spoiled by the digital resource. But quantity doesn't mean quality. We'll see if I can improve in that area- there's still 3/4 of the year to go, right?
Another great idea! I love looking for things around the house and the oat-o's that my son eats was going to be my subject for the week. Seeing that you've already done something similar, I'm probably going to pass it and do something else. Let's hope you don't beat me to it! ;-)
@Bek: i am the same but i just need to practice limiting myself as to how many shutters have been pressed for one subject. it's not because i am harsh on myself but i just want to learn how to control.
Well, we still have a whole lot of days to practice it. In the end, we'll be able to master it as well as controlling our own settings.
@Toni: LOL...actually, this is not an original idea. i saw this from somewhere. i tried it when nothing else came to my mind. since i started, i have been scrambling from our house of what to photograph and i think i have exhausted everything that i can think of...
Get that idea going and i sure hope as well that we don't share the same idea...LOL>..great minds think alike...LOL
