59/365 - Cherry Blossoms

59/365 - Cherry Blossom

Along the streets of our neighborhood, these Cherry Blossoms are lining up. And guess what? It's this time of the year that they are in bloom. Why not? Spring is just around the corner.

Since last week, I have been eyeing to shoot them. I just could not pull my idea out because a) the rain was crazy last week; b) there's just so much going on; c) because I don't carry my camera when I want to take snaps of them; d) because I was lazy to walk to them - they are a couple blocks away from the house. The last reason? It's totally lame and embarassing.

So today, while driving home, out of the blue, I told hubby that I needed to take a picture of those blossoms. I just blurted it out. It was not really my intention. I don't want him to drag into my craziness. But alas, while eating dinner, he made mention that we'll go for a walk and so I can take my camera and take a photo of the blossoms. I guess this was a way of encouraging me. His father posted a comment on this facebook to keep on encouraging me into this craft. How lucky could I be?

While walking, I stopped once in a while to take snaps. After a couple, I got what I wanted. We still continue to walk for about a mile and then decided to head home.

And here I am, happy with what I had taken. To process, I ran a Lightroom Preset and cropped it. I opened it in CS5 and ran a PWAction - Boost to enhance the colors. I then adjusted the exposure and the brightness. Ah, adjusting the exposure; that's the beauty of shooting in Raw.

Gorgeous! I love the color and the tone! I just got my camera that is able to shoot in RAW. But I am afraid it's going to take me a long time just to get used to the 'normal' settings, LOL

Very nice, Noreen! Don't you love seeing all of the spring flowers beginning to open up? I know they bring a smile to my face when I see them--I think, photo opp! :-) But actually, it's God creation, and it's just beautiful!!!

These are beautiful! We had snow the last week so that put a cap on our spring blooms. :( I can't wait for our blossoms to come out. I want spring!!!

Your father-in-law is very sweet. That's wonderful that you have so much encouragement. My family doesn't comment but I have a tracker of where people visit from on my blog and I so I see my family and my husband's family come on my site every day and they always comment when I see them. Makes me feel really good. :)

@Bek: yay to you and your new camera!! I took me months before I jumped in to using Raw. It allows me total control over my settings especially if there are times when my settings are off from the camera. Although it made my work sort of double, I love shooting Raw. But i still go back to Jpeg from time to time especially for tidbits kind of photos.

Just play around with your new toy and in no time, you'll be in the Manual Mode..:)

@cheryl: oh yeah...I already see daffodils and tulips and other flowers in bloom. I can't wait to see more of them.

@ Melissa: yikes for the snow but I think it still created a beautiful scenery (minus the plowing and the shovelling)..LOL

I am quite lucky to have a very supportive family. They always encourage me to do things that I like to do. They just put their comments on hubby's or my facebook. I've never given them the link because I feel so intimidated to let them read my posts. When it comes to having my family read my stuff, that's the area that I am not confident about. :) They still see the photos that I posted here because I also post it there. :)
