49/365 - Reachin' Out...

...to you!!! Well, aside from Flickr and the Digital Photography School, I also participate in local meetup groups. My main goal is of course to learn more about photography. One article/forum that I came across states that one of the best way to learn to is to get involve and/or participate in a group who share the same interest as you do. And that's what I did.

Our local meetup group has a monthly challenge. And for this month, it's Hands and/or Red. Red is interesting but for some reasons, I just could not compose something with the color red. My plan B is to go for the hands. Hands? There are many shots that you can create. I wanted something with my hand and my baby. I know it's common but I like that kind of shot. Unfortunately, I just could not take it. The only time I could have taken one shot is when she's asleep but it's still hard for me. So, my last resort was to use my own hands.

I have this idea in my head since last night. I just did not execute it because I already saw a lot of hands in my flickr contacts. I want to be a little different. So, I saved it for today.

49/365 - Reachin' Out...

And oh, while I was typing this entry, a song with a line "reachin' out to you, do you feel it too" (something like that) is stuck in my head.

Cool shot! Was it difficult to take a shot of your own hand?

I think the photo is pretty cool. I also love the photos of adult and baby hands. They are so cute. Its just shows how delicate and precious babies are. I am also a member of the digital photography school. Do you participate in their weekly photo challenges. I think this week you are suppose to recreate a famous photo/painting.

That line from whatever song you're quoting fits very well with the picture. I feel like it's not just picture of a hand but rather you reaching for something like it says. Your ring is extremely pretty too by the way. :)

@ Cheryl: yes, I found it hard for me because my lighting was a little dimmer than usual so my settings are different. I kept on having a shaky photo..when I used the tripod and the remote, my focus is off. it took me about 20 + shots before I got this one. :)

@ Aasiya: I know. those kind of photos just melt my heart away. I wish I could take such photo of me and my daughter or hubby and her. I just could not do it because you know, 17 month old babies...LOL...I do participate the weekly challenge but I could only count the number of times. I do share some of my shots in the share Your shots section and critique section. I love that site!!!

@ melissa: I think that song (whatever the title is) is really my inspiration. thank you!! About the ring? That's hubby's gift (thanskgiving, bday, xmas) in 2008. It's the replacement of my wedding band since it has outgrown my finger and I could not wear it anymore...:) He was the one who picked it, too! I love it too because of the unique design...LOL

What a great idea to join a local group! I bet you learn a lot from it. If I ever have the time/courage I will do that in the future as well;)

Lovely shot! I wish my hands were as nice as yours - I've been planning to do a series on body parts for my blog since I'm running out of inspiration again, but I don't know who to ask to loan their body parts! LOL!
