April Favorite(s)

Once in a while, I love to participate in contests moderated by other bloggers whom I followed. I love the thrill to see other people's interpretation of the theme and I love when other people see your work (narcistic much?). Many may agree or disagree with me but when other people appreciate my work, it gives me a boost of self-confidence to move on and be better with what you chose to do. Most of the times, the comments left on my posts serves as an inspiration and motivation to stepped up to my plate.

For this month, Courtney, the author of Click It Up a Notch is hosting a contest where one can showcase his or her favorite for this particular month. One has to basically showcase which of the bunch of photos within the month has shown that he or she has CLICKED IT UP A NOTCH. Does my wording make sense? I hope so.

I thought of participating because it's a good way to look back and relearn the things that I have done to be able to achieve such photo. Within in my stream, there's two photos that I really liked the best. But this one exudes the other by a mere fraction of reason. There's quite a lot of technacilities (both photographic and post-processing) that I have achieved and learn.

110/365

I've clicked up a notch on this because I think I have nailed the exposure according to how I liked it. I was able to use the available light to its maximum. I was able to showcase the flower in an unusual angle. I was able to use texture layer and experiment photoshop in the post processing process. The very last reason why I liked this is because I was able to retain the clarity of the details of the petals, sepals and stems of the flower.

I can't leave this page without mentioning my runner-up.
100/365 - Achievement

It's an achievement for me to catch a flower while the bee is busy sucking it's nectar. And to top it all, this happened during my 100th day.

Head over here to see other photographer's favorite for the month of April.

creative use of the texture on the rose photo ~ it is a great angle and the lighting is perfect.

Your DOF is fabulous on the bee photo. This is something I have a difficult time with. I love bokeh and have a habit of opening up my apeture as wide as it will go, then my DOF is so shallow I miss capturing my subject in it's entirety. ~ nicely done
