109/365 - Withered

109/365 - Withered

What? My heading says it's already Wednesday!!! This post is supposed to be for Tuesday. Well, that is right, I am about 26 minutes late because hubby decided to take control of the computer. I tried my best to post this at the right day but I just failed. Oh well!!!

In coherent with my theme for this week, I present to you a withered rose. My week's theme is about flowers. That means, anything that has something to do with flowers. Sky is the limit for me with regards to the interpretation.

So for today, my co-worker was very kind enough to share to me three pieces of roses that she has dried on her desk. These particular roses have been in my vase for a month or so. It was supposed to be one of the subjects in the previous months but then, I set them aside because when I was trying to get shots of these roses; they were either flat and boring. My head was not working when composing a shot for these flowers until today.

During my afternoon break, I made a set up right infront of the glass window at work. I placed the flowers in an angle and took some sample shots so I could check my settings as well. After about 10 shots, I finally found one that I liked.

I then processes the raw files with ACR and decided to add texture to create a little bit of drama to the resulting image. The texture that I used was kind of subtle, which I liked. Why? Because it did not take away the characteristics and details of the flowers. Though it's there, I can still see the texture and colors of the flower. Also, for some reason, it made the focused flower pop. And that's how I liked it.

I rarely see any shots of purple flowers, so I really like this one.

Oooo, Noreen, I love this one. I love dead roses, they have so much character. Love old people with lots of wrinkles too. They tell a story of their life. Beautiful.
