Wednesday!!! I called in sick today from work. I had a horrible night last night due to my bad cough. I woke everyone up the minute I got in bed. When I was in bed, my breathing sounded horrible. Luckily today, my feeling has gotten better. I still have the nasty cough and itchy throat but it's definitely way better than last night.
By noon, cuddlebug is in her bed taking a nap and hubby is in the kitchen impressing me with his cooking skills. I am quite the lucky girl. I have an in-house chef!!! And boy does he cook soooooo delish!!!! Oops, I got sidetracked again! I had the opportunity to play around for my shot of the day. And yes, I am still sticking to my theme for the week - FLOWERS!
So today, I took a stem of rose (one of the variety from the bouquet of roses that hubby gave to our cuddlebug). My vision is to take a low angle shot with an over-exposed background just correctly exposing the flower. I am hoping for a "heavenly shot". Since I don't have any other existing vase, I used the roll of paper towel to support the stem. I placed it right on top of Mady's toy refrigerator with the glass window behind it. I've tried several shots, transferred into the computer and started editing. Unfortunately, I did not like how the photos came out in my computer screen. I am fairly positive that I have checked every photo that I took in my lcd before uploading.
Because of the frustration, I decided to make round two of the shots. I changed my vision for the shot. Instead of having an over-exposed background, I just wanted a simple shot with the flower in focus and well-lighted. Instead of taking the photo from infront of the window, I switched position. I took the shot with the window behind me. My vision this time was to cross process the image and add texture to it. I just want to test my post processing skills.
After I got the photo that I wanted, I then played the image in ACR, adjust the lighting and contrast then finished it in CS5. I am quite pleased with the result. Actually, I am happy with the result. But what I liked most about this photo is the lighting. I liked how the low angle worked out just perfectly. And of course, I like that I can still see the details/texture of the petals. Over-all, this shot sits on my top ten favorites.

Wow! PERFECT!!! Don't know what else to say here - I love the angle, the colors, the clarity, the texture... Awesome job, Noreen!

Hope you are feeling better - what a lovely shot!
Wow, nice shot. And I love how you told us what your thought process was and how you achieved your results. It's so nice to be able to learn things from one another in this way.
@Courtney: Thank you!! I am feeling much better but still struggling with the cough and colds...darn allergies!
@Bek: Thank you!!!
Karen: thanks!!
@Melissa: Thank you!!!
@flower photography: thanks!
@Kristin: thank you and thanks for the feedback about my vision. I like it that way so there's a place I can come back for times I need inspiration for how I did it. This blog is sort of a journal for me, too!! And just like you, I also like reading other people's blog with their vision on their shots. I love learning from others as well!
