98/365 - Behind the Blinds

98/365 - Behind the Blinds

Can you believe it? Two more days and I'll hit the 100th day for this 365 Photo Challenge. Me? I can't believe it! Why? Because I just thought I'd only last for a month or two and I'll quit. It's because I am procrastinate and gets discourage. Fortunately, only one existed so far in my system. And that is the procrastination.

Although I procrastinate, I still made to a point to be able to follow my mission when I first started with participating this challenge. I got discourage a few times but that went away when I see or read some inspiring comments made by people who frequent on my Flickr Photostream or here on my blog. The words that you have left on either pages are so appreciated. Can you feel the drama here? Not really! I just want to say THANK YOU! When that 100th day will arrive, I will definitely give a time to reflect on the things that I have learned and missed as I go along this process. There have been days that it seems to be tough but I think I have overcome it. There have been days that I slack but then again, I have overcome it. I think I'll reserve more of these sentiments next time. :)

As for the photo above, this was actually an "AFTER THOUGHT". I have something originally planned but then I thought that I'll reserve it on the days that I have nothing else in my mind.
.
So, while playing with Madison, the light coming from the sliding glass door was just beautiful. It's my perfect spot - just in case you don't know. And I just want to share it. :) I grabbed my camera with the thought of getting some candid portraits of her. Before, when I say smile, she smiles at me. And it's just not a timid smile but definitely a big one! But lately, I have noticed that she doesn't care about it anymore. She doesn't even want to look at me in the eyes while I have my gear with me. I think she has come to the realization that she is tired of me and my "goddang camera". She has finally come to a conclusion that I have more than enough photos of her. In all honesty, I think my external hard drive consists of about 3/4 of her photos. But then again, you can't blame me. I am a first time mother who just wants to document everything of my daughter so I have something to look back to when she's older.

So for today, this shot was a totally hit and miss kind of thing. I almost begged her to look at me but as independent as she is and who has a mind of her own, that was really impossible. She is actually more interested with the lens cap and the buttons at the back of my camera. Luckily, after I adjust my settings, she finally gave me one cute smile that only lasted for a second or two! With the original photo, some parts of it were blown out and that's the reason why I resorted to converting it to Black and White using a preset in Lightroom. I just need to play it safe with the overexposure on the left side of her body. Oh yes, I am a fan of Presets and Actions. I got the free ones, too! I have tried playing the post processing by myself but I am not too confident as of yet. And whenever I played with it, it's during the time that my energy is low and my perception of things is different than normal. So for now, whover these geeks who develop these presets and actions, thank you!

What a mischievous look!:) Great shot! I think I'm having the same problem with Stephen being annoyed that I always have the camera with me in the yard and on our walks. All he wants is to play and not stop and sit in a certain way mommy wants him to:)

This is so cute! Too funny. How old is your daughter. I'm getting nervous for the day my daughter runs from the camera. Haha I can relate to this whole post and being a friend time Mom. It's so fun to share that in common with you! :)

P.S. I always convert to B&W when I blow out things in my photos. Haha

@Bek: ah, kids now a days are smart...they have a mind of their own!!! and at this age, it's just harder than i thought to let them sit still and do what we want for them to do. :)

Melissa: for now, savor every moment you have with Adalyn. But then again, every kid/toddler is different so she may be different from our Madison. :) I think Mady likes to be behind the camera rather than pose infront. Although from time to time, I still see her smile for me (when she's in the mood).

What a wonderful capture! Seems like yesterday my son was playing hide-and-seek behind curtains and now he's 21. Time flies. Cherish the moment.

Thank you, Laura!!! I just wish I can make the time stop but then again, it's not in our control. I am making the most out of it though. Thank you!
