July Favorite Photo

For some reason I've missed joining last month's favorite photo. What I like about this challenge is it allows me to look back into my archive of photos for the month and examine which is my favorite out of the bunch. Aside from picking from the favorite, it also allow me to point out the things why such photo stands out from the rest.

For this month's photo, I chose the photo that I took of Alycia. She is an aspiring model who is working on her portfolio. I had the honor of shooting with her after she contacted me to do her shots. Of all the photos that I took of her, below is my most favorite.

The reason why I loved this photo, well, actually the whole shoot is because I did Clicked Up a Notch. This was my first time to go on a shoot by myself (though hubby and baby where somewhere around the vicinity); I was not with a photography group or with another photographer. Through this shoot, I was able to widen my perspective on how to shoot people and give them directions and instruct on poses - not anymore candid/stolen kind of shots.

From the photo standpoint, there are actually other photos that I loved and liked but since it's Alycia's favorite as well, I picked it. What I love about this is that I was able to nail what I was hoping for - keep the focus on the eyes. And because of that, the photo shows intensity in the eyes. From the angle that I chose, I was able to highlight her beautiful facial structure. Those cheekbones are gorgeous. And oh, she has great skin, too!

Over all, this shoot was Clicking up a Notch for me because I have proven to myself that I can step out of my comfort zone and just be fine with it as long as I trust myselft of what I am can capable of doing.

Head on herefor more Top Notch July Favorites.
