Tail Lights at Night

As I have observed, avid photographers: hobbyist or professional alike, has some preferences of what to shoot! As I have been browsing, I see that these photographers shoot one common thing after the after. One similar and very familiar technique is the use of the slow shutter especially during night. And as I have noticed, the best example in order to execute such technique is photographing moving cars. Because of the slow shutter speed, the resulting effect is tail lights.

As an amateur photographer (self-proclaimed), shooting this kind of perspective has always been in my to-do list! I have been eyeing a particular location where I can shoot the freeway and the vehicles especially during the rush hour. Unfortunately, I have not been successful.

But recently, I was given the chance to execute such technique. And below are just few of the results. It is because once I started and found out how to do it, I could not stop clicking! It was such a fun thing to do!

Tail lights, tail gates, tail....???

It's at the corner of 3rd and Capitol Mall. I felt so good when I saw this on my preview mode! And of course, I was very proud!

A busy Capitol Mall

Looking towards the Tower Bridge. I was standing by the greens along the corner of 4th Street and Capitol Mall.

Wells Fargo

The Wells Fargo Building and it's candy cane colored trees!

more tail lights

Here's another shot from the same location with the first photo!

In order for one to execute this shot and be able to produce great results, it is important to have the tripod ready. It is better if you have your remote shutter control handy. It's the easiest way to go because you don't have to touch the shutter of your camera thus preventing blurry images!

And you should be proud! I can tell you carried your tripod, or found a tripod-like tool somewhere! :) Excellent trails.. I think the 2nd shot is my favourite!

Oh I did carry my tripod with me!! I was not so shy to carry it because I was with somebody who was carrying a tripod as well. If that would have been just myself, i don't think I'll be able to get this kind of shots...LOL
