My First Panning

Panning has always had me thinking. It's quite an interesting technique. All this time, I thought inorder for one to do such technique is to acquire a certain equipment. And all this time, I was wrong!

My first panning!!!

This is actually my first time ever to do a panning shot! This was taken when I met up with a friend for a photowalk. He has his ideas in mind of what to do while waiting for my parking meter time. I truly appreciate him because he was not selfish. He taught me how to do so.

At first, I was very hesitant. But with his encouragement boost up my confidence. Prior to this shot, I took about 5-6 other shots just to test my settings. Once I was ready, then the clicking happened.

I never thought panning would that difficult. All I did was set my focus, watched an approaching vehicle, followed where it was going, click the shutter button and continue following. I was asked if this was a continues shot and was stacked. Nope, this was only a single shot. It may have been a little tight because I was using my prime lens. By the time I changed my wide angle, there were less cars coming and I just could not get my focus.

But other than that, I am so proud of this shot. As for my first time, I am happy with the result. Now, I can't wait to go to a marathon or wait for the Tour of California and do this panning shot. But for now, I'd still keep on practicing!
